SEASON 2025/26
In the upcoming 2025/26 season, Michael Sanderling will continue to lead numerous artistic highlights, both in his role as Chief Conductor of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and as a guest conductor with prominent international ensembles.
He will return to the Berliner Philharmoniker, the NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo,and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra with Brahms’ Piano Quartet in the orchestral arrangement by Arnold Schoenberg.
His engagements also include Elgar’s Enigma Variations with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and Strauss’ Also sprach Zarathustra with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

He will reunite with the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan for a performance of Schumann’s Symphony No. 4, and lead excerpts from Wagner’s Götterdämmerung with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. With the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, he will conduct Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2.
At Musikfest Berlin, he will appear with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin performing Mahler’s Symphony No. 6, and later in the season, he will lead the Dresden Philharmonic in a performance of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10.
Further engagements include Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 with the Musikkollegium Winterthur and a return to the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg with a program centered on Bruckner.
With the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, he will perform Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10 and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, among others. The season will conclude with an extensive tour of Asia with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra in July 2026.
